How I got banned from Dailykos.com in less than 8 hours.

It begins with this post.

And it’s all about how awesome Hillary is now because apparently she spoke in a pleasing way.

Since talk is cheap, I registered expressly to post the following:

If the dems hand Hillary the dem primary, Americans deserve a Republican president. And that’s what we’ll get, regardless of who wins the general.

If you guys buy into lip service you’re working for the 1%’s PR machine.

I will literally vote republican if it’s not Bernie in the general because I’d rather have a monster we can see than a complacent left enduring another 8 years of centrist republican rule just because the label on the can says “democrat.”

What she says doesn’t matter. What she’s done is the real indicator. Same with Bernie. Vote with your brain.

“Since he voted against the Iraq War and has spent a lifetime championing progressive issues while others waivered (Hillary was against gay marriage until 2013, voted for the Iraq War, pushed for the TPP on 45 separate occasions, and supported Keystone XL), Bernie Sanders doesn’t need to prove he’s a progressive. Voters know what they’re getting with Vermont’s Senator. In contrast, Hillary Clinton rarely offers a direct answer on why she failed to champion certain causes when they weren’t popular.”~ H. A. Goodman

How do I know that got me banned? Well, in making a mistake in another comment I went to tech support looking for how to edit or delete comments…

There’s an important lesson here for leftists who think their media and their party are in any way qualitatively different than the rights.

We have a one party system in this country. The 1% party.

My perspective is that the whole reason pockets of the leftist community are irrationally backing Clinton, of which Daily Kos is a blatant nest, is that those are the pockets that are actually conservative as per Hillary’s position right of the line on this chart:

It seems to me that a huge portion of the democratic party has fallen into the trap of grading ethics on a curve.

Up until now they were invisible because for the past 30+ years you could label yourself democrat to open a different set of 1% doors. You could enjoy all the fruits of right wing bigotry unscolded, so long as you had smaller portions than the obsessive gluttons to your right.

Like running from a Lion, they didn’t endeavor to be fast, just faster than the guy next to them.

An actual progressive choice for the first time since Carter has revealed that particular emperor to be stark naked.

Decades of being the lesser of two evils has convinced them they they are truly good. And that is why Bernie and his supporters are so threatening to their ego.

We remind them that there is a standard for goodness unused in American politics for decades, if ever, that does not grade on a curve.

Complacency and its collaborators have suddenly become obvious in the moral bankruptcy of constant compromise with the darkest parts of the human heart.

I am reminded of the following quote:

“Being against evil doesn’t make you good. Tonight I was against it and then I was evil myself. I could feel it coming just like a tide… I just want to destroy them. But when you start taking pleasure in it you are awfully close to the thing you’re fighting.” ~Ernest Hemingway

  1. Well, I’m marking all dailykos emails as spam until they ban me. Apparently this site is run by either a bunch of idiots or Hillary. Either way, screw them.

  2. _”Apparently this site is run by either a bunch of idiots or Hillary.”_

    Same thing 😛 🙂

But I appreciate the support 🙂

They apparently won’t ban you unless you are a Bernie or Bust voter 😛

  3. I was banned in less than 2 hours and my comment about my unwillingness to vote for a neoliberal was even less “in your face” than yours.

I was quite literally banned after 1 comment. I hadn’t even posted a ‘story’.

    DailyKos is pretty nasty.

I had even attempted to create another account and not post anything about my disdain for Hillary, etc., but it was banned within 24 hours after 1 diary and 1 comment, neither of which showed my disdain for HRC, Biden, etc.

So they must log IP addresses and double-check them when dealing with new accounts.

Craziness. But, this kind of behavior is exactly the reason I won’t vote for them.

  4. I just got banned 2 days ago from dkos essentially as a result of cliques abusing the site’s community policing feature. If your comments get down voted (flagged) by other members, you automatically get suspended and then banned after hitting a (small) threshold of flagged comments. Community members are allowed to flag comments that ostensibly violate the site’s posting rules. The rule that is most loosely and selectively enforced is the one against being insulting/abusive towards other members.

If you hang out on dkos long enough, you will begin to notice cliques who use the flagging feature against enemies of their cliques using blatant double standards, in that if people are in a heated debate with each other, the clique will flag only those members they disagree with for being insulting/abusive, while giving a pass to those on their side exhibiting the same or worse behavior. It is common in a heated discussion that passions will flare and inevitably comments will be seen as at least mildly insulting/abusive to the other side, even while the author of the comment might very well believe he/she is staying within the bounds. This tendency is compounded by the fact that cliques often behave by a different set of rules others are expected to follow. As I am NOT one who possesses super-human abilities to keep my cool and maintain upmost respect and/or refrain from responding at all in the face of provocative insulting swipes from those whose comments get a pass, I tripped into several of their booby traps and eventually got banned, permanently it appears.

You don’t get much leeway. The first time I got suspended at dkos after getting some comments flagged was last July, and it was for 3 months. 3 months for the first offense, which seems a bit extreme compared with most other blogging sites. I was given a warning at that time that after the 3 month suspension, if I get one more comment flagged, I will be automatically banned. I finally tripped over that wire a few days ago.

  5. Yeah debate is a myth, all debates being voted on are just opinion polls.

I actually proved that one time on a debate site that picked winners by vote. I won and lost debate (100% predictably) using one word arguments. Defend something really popular with one word you get one win. Defend something unpopular with one word you get one loss.

The extra fun part of that experiment was I lost the debate where my claim was debates are opinion polls. That idea is unpopular so I lost despite having literally objectively proved it.

    People are fact immune.

  6. Well I was recently banned for being too moderate for the DK. I made sure it wasn’t for personally attacking anyone because I avoided it. I could be because of one of several reasons:

    1. I said that JFK really didn’t do anything except bay of pigs-Johnson was the one who actually passed The voting rights and civil rights acts besides Medicare. They seem to have a bunch of old boomers there that are still clouded by the Kennedy mystique. I’m a little younger and think that’s all crap. Oh He also f’d around e with a mob girl.

    2. I made the mistake of saying “Illegal Alien” instead of “Undocumented Nobel Prize Winner”. I support legalizing Dreamers but just Dreamers. Sorry to dash Julian Castros dreams but Most Americans don’t support open borders. I actually believe that by pushing these big “comprehensive immigration” which are really for their corporate masters wanting cheap farm and tech workers they are actually making legalization of Dreamers harder.

    3. I said that Bernie Sander’s Reconciliation bill actually hijacked Biden’s BBB. Bernie added $1 Trillion over Biden’s Request including the Medicare expansion. DailyKos basically misrepresents this. Obviously the butt hurt progressives didn’t like this. I think that Biden, Shumer, Pelosi, Sanders, and Jayapal have all handles this Badly with dealing with Manchin and Sinema. Leftist progressives’ Nazi/MAGA intimidation tactics have failed. They should have been working out a deal that Manchin and Sinema would support 3 months ago. Even now when Biden worked out a “Framework” Progessive /Dems in the house can’t help but fck it up by adding SALT, illegal immigration, Medicare expansion back into the bill. This is an example of where less is more. And yes it may mean the bill may only be 1-1.5 Trillion. No wonder moderates are insisting the bill gets scored.

And I’m sure even if a skinny bill gets passed progress moderates will complain instead of celebrating.

After reading their hate rage against Sinema and now Manchin for months they have turned Joe Manchin into my hero. Damn if only he had an ONLYFANS account .

They hype up the rage on their enemies similar to how FaceBook pushes content to generate RW posts.

On other poster put it correctly. The site is run by mob rule. I’m all for restrictions on attacking other posters but you can’t support views that aren’t in keeping with their echo chamber to either the right or left.

  7. Yeah that’s absolutely believable. I agree with you generally except for point three simply because it implies Bernie and Biden aren’t 100% working in sync, but they are. It’s the same old scam, Broken promise, rotating villain, republicans win, get us back in office, repeat. This is just like the fraudsquad voting present in exact numbers needed to keep things nice and fucked for everyone but the donor owners of both parties. See my twitter feed for constant updates and proof on that score. @Innomen
